The 2025 Safety Rodeo will be hosted at the Nanaimo District Office on Saturday, June 7, 2025. The Upper Island Branch is coordinating the Power Pioneer volunteers assisted by the Provincial Power Pioneers team.

Volunteers are needed for tasks such as registration, children’s games, “Ask Me” site guides, photography, selling 50/50 tickets, and staffing of the Power Pioneer booth. There may be other tasks identified as the Safety Rodeo gets closer. Each volunteer will have a three-hour shift though accommodation can be made for those who wish to work a longer or shorter time.

Why volunteer for the Safety Rodeos?

Thousands of volunteer hours have been donated to help plan and support the many jobs and activities it takes to put on this event for the Hydro employees and their families. Opportunities to volunteer are in Surrey and other locations depending on the year. These Safety Rodeos would not be possible without volunteers from across BC Hydro and the Power Pioneers. It is a great opportunity to work with and learn from BC Hydro employees and other Power Pioneers. An important part of our volunteering is that BC Hydro recognizes the contribution of the Power Pioneer volunteers by making a donation towards our Miracle Millions campaign in support of BC Children’s Hospital.
