BC Hydro Power Pioneers Northern Branch Meeting Minutes for Tuesday, April 9, 2024

Al Beeson, President, acknowledged April birthdays and anniversaries, followed by lunch
Al called the to order at 12:35 by asking someone to move acceptance of the minutes
of March 12th meeting, as circulated. Bryan Tuson moved the minutes be accepted seconded
by Rudy Zellman AIF/C
Terry Receveur, Treasurer, presented the Financial Report as of March 31, 2024 balanced with
Credit Union. General Account $3881.06 Entertainment Account $387.65 Total of $4268.71
We carry a cash float of $35.00 Terry moved acceptance of his report and Mike Smith 2nd AIF/C
Committee Reports:
Care – Elaine Hauck reports placing a phone call to Dan Krys, he is well and awaiting hip
surgery. Al reports a call from Rae Daggitt in Quesnel, Rae is doing fine but reported member
Roger North had a fall and broke his femur. Al visited Roger in the PG hospital and mailed a get
well card.
Volunteer Hours – Donna Zellman reports no official total yet but understands Terry Receveur is
the winner of the draw for $1000.00. Terry intends to donate $500.00 to Prince George Hospice
and $500.00 to Prince George Seniors Council, way to go Terry! Congratulations!
Social Committee – Vacant
Publicity – Rudy Zellman reports on the new format for the Newsletter and encourages any
feedback members may have. The new format seems great!
Membership – Nancy Thurier – absent, no report
Community Service Awards – Bryan Tuson reports letters to come out soon
Science Fair – Al reports this is completed for 2024 as per the minutes of March 12th meeting
Heritage Fair – Dan and Coleen Krys absent. This event will take place May 10th at the Prince
George Public Library and they will be looking for volunteers to judge the event
Caring Hands – Gail Thompson – absent, no report
Small is Mighty Campaign – Pat Dool reports receiving an email from Maureen Lachnit April 3rd
and May will be the month to donate, either on line as per information distributed in the coming
newsletter OR if you wish to donate cash funds with no receipt Pat will collect at the May
meeting and submit donations for you.
Old Business: Reminder of the Jamboree Alaskan Cruise September 15-22nd cabins still
available
New Business: Search continues for a permanent home for our monthly meetings, Al and Terry
as well as Polly and Brian St Germain have been about town asking for availability and
associated costs for lunch and a meeting room. We had a good lunch in the quiet banquet
room at Nelly’s Pub today, so may continue here for the foreseeable future. Any ideas gratefully
received for an off-site June lunch meeting, please direct your ideas to Al Beeson.
Leisure Activities: 50/50 draw of $47.50 won by Peter Stoner and lunch won by Brian St
Germain
Meeting was adjourned at 12:55 moved by Mike Smith and 2nd by Dave Conway
Next meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 14th at 11:30 at Nelly’s Pub in Banquet Room
