On Saturday June 9 we met with Mya Pawar and her mother. Northern Branch member Bryan Tuson presented our Community Service Award to College Heights secondary student Mya Powar.
Mya has contributed her time to many activities including:
- Joining the school leadership club and participating in bake sales, garbage pickups, barbecues and helping parents and teachers.
- Peer tutor and mentor at Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
- Organizing and taking part in events in St. Vincent De Paul and the Salvation Army.
- Youth representative for the Rotary in Northern B.C.
- President at her school College Heights Interact Club.
Mya plans to start nursing school this September where she can continue to serve her local community by helping to heal sick folks.
