On December 5, the Okanagan Branch celebrated their Christmas luncheon at the Penticton Golf and Country Club. Twenty-Seven members enjoyed a seasonal dinner, fellowship and door prizes.
This year we continued the tradition of gathering donations for the Food Banks that serve the communities where we live. The Branch was able to disburse their volunteer funds by providing a one-hundred-dollar cheque to the food banks in the communities of Summerland, Penticton, Okanagan Falls, Oliver and Midway. A draw was held for the food donations, resulting in several boxes and $200 going to the Central Okanagan Food Bank. Thank you to all for your generosity!
A copy of the full-page article from the Okanagan News Highlighting the Mission Hills Festival of Trees was circulated by Matt Verboeket. Four-year-old Lila Pratch’s Favorite tree was the BC Hydro Power Pioneers tree decorated with Squishmellows. Our participation in the Festival of Trees is in support of the BC Children’s Hospital.
A special thank you to all the volunteers who helped make this year’s luncheon a great event; Sue and Skip for arranging the door prize gifts, Tim and Bev for looking after the registration and draws, Matt for capturing the moments in photos and everyone who brought a smile.
Have a Safe and Happy Holiday Season
