School and Community Activities
Punum has maintained a 4.0 academic standing.
In the last 11 years she has helped fundraise $40,000 for the Surrey Memorial Hospital. She has also participated in fundraisers for victims of domestic abuse, the Terry Fox Foundation and Sophie’s Place.
She volunteered with her dad with the Association of South Asian Professionals distributing food, blankets, cookies and coffee to the homeless. She also volunteered with an organization called Night Shift giving out clothes and food to those in need, and also worked for the YMCA, helping run kids’ programs and events using her leadership to set up these programs for them.
Punum was selected into the leadership program at her school and participated in many activities including refereeing games and running school-wide events. In the community she initiated garbage collections in the neighborhood and Crescent Beach.
She also spent hours recruiting volunteers, getting sponsors on board for food donations, making sure everything is packed for outreach and doing what is needed to make sure the volunteering event is successful.
In grade 11, Punum was a member of an outdoor leadership group for a Co-Op program.
She also played in a high level women’s soccer league and will continue this activity at SFU.
Punum has been accepted at SFU into the Beedie School of Business. Her future goals are running her own business and attending law school. She is a high achieving, very involved student not only at school but in the community.
