Pacific March Ramble

The cool and rainy weather on Wednesday 12th March, provided a perfect day for a tour of Surrey City Hall. Complimentary underground parking was provided for the 17 attending our guided tour of this impressive complex, under the guidance of Wendy. The tour lasting 90-minutes commenced in the multi-use Council Chamber also referred to as ‘Centre Stage’ and is also utilized for theatre productions and weddings. We were shown a video presentation that encapsulated the pertinent statistics and features of this fast-growing city. We were then shown the impressive traffic control centre, which provides services 12 hours each day that help to ensures safe and efficient traffic flow on the city’s highways. Watching the multiple intersection cameras, provided us evidence of the sadly lacking driving etiquette we experience on the roads. The tour concluded with a view looking north over the city from the sixth-floor outdoor veranda. The office of Mayor Brenda Locke is also located on this floor however, she was in meetings so could not greet us, although she had done so in the previously watched video!

Following the tour, a group of 16 folks enjoyed a welcome ‘comfort food’ lunch at the Guildford Station Pub, that provided a perfect end to the Ramble!
