Rob Kikkert, our dear friend, and Provincial Past President of Power Pioneers, passed away suddenly, December 23, 2024.
He was hired by BC Hydro in 1969. His career took him from the Lower Mainland to Smithers, Hazelton, Stewart, Terrace, Prince George and back to the Lower Mainland, where he retired in 2004.
Soon after his retirement, Rob joined Power Pioneers. He was an active member of the Vancouver and Tri-Cities Branches and served as Vancouver Branch President, Youth Awards Chair and Provincial President.
He will be remembered for his many contributions to the Power Pioneers, including the BC Hydro Hockey Tournament, Community Service Awards, Heritage and Science Fair Awards, Jeans Day and Miracle Millions Campaign for BC Children’s Hospital and, most recently, on the editorial board for the Power Pioneer history books.
Rob and his wife, Diane, participated in many activities and adventures, bringing heart, spirit and genuine friendship to everyone they met. A very special quality Rob possessed was to simply show up, on many occasions, just because he knew we could use a hand. It didn’t matter how small or big the task was, he was there, often with Diane, to get the job done with a smile. He will be greatly missed.
Our thoughts are with Diane and their family.
