On June 25, 2024 Upper Island member Jim Pogson presented our Community Service Award, along with a $500.00 cheque and the book ”Voices from Bridge River” to Lily Chay of Laydsmith Secondary School.

Lily Chay has been volunteering in the Ladysmith Secondary School since Grade 8.  This year she has been Co-president of the interact Club.  She has raised funds for Disaster Aid Canada for the wildfires in BC. She has also raised funds for the Red Cross in Ukraine for relief aid during the present war.

Lily is an example of the importance of the Community Service Award to the young citizens of BC.
