January and Chinese food somehow go together. Just ask any of the Upper Island Power Pioneers who gathered at the Hong Kong House Restaurant in Nanaimo recently to enjoy an excellent buffet luncheon, and relax for a few hours after the busy Christmas season.
Our Literacy Program chair, Brian Jeffrey took the opportunity to draw the name of this year’s winner of the literacy draw. Neil Campbell was the lucky winner of a $30 gift certificate from Hong Kong House Restaurant, plus a box of Purdy’s Chocolates for dessert!
Many thanks to all who donated new books throughout 2015, or cash to allow us to purchase books to donate to local school libraries. We hope you’ll continue to support this very important program in 2016.
